Hydro-Climate Extremes Lab

Mapping the biodiversity of marine life ecosystem using satellite imagery and machine learning

About the project

In this project, computer vision techniques were applied to enhance satellite imagery of global temperatures, increasing spatial resolution and enabling more detailed climate analysis. Advanced methods were used to reconstruct finer temperature patterns from coarse-resolution data, improving the interpretability and usability of the imagery.

About Hydro-Climate Extremes Lab

The Hydro-Climate Extremes Lab (H-CEL) at Ghent University is a research group focused on understanding interactions between the water cycle, climate, and ecosystems. The lab places strong emphasis on extreme events such as droughts, heatwaves, and floods in a changing climate. Its researchers combine satellite remote sensing, physical modeling, and advanced data science techniques to study global hydro-climatic processes
